Why a SKU isn’t tracked
Every SKU in your store is either tracked or not tracked for one of these reasons:- Excluded by rule - it matches one of your exclusion rules
- Untracked in Shopify - Track quantity is off for it in Shopify, so there is no stock count to follow
- Bundle - a bundle holds no stock of its own. Stockful tracks the products inside it instead
- Paused at plan limit - it arrived after your store reached its plan’s SKU limit
- Set to never track - you set this SKU not to be tracked
Finding SKUs that aren’t tracked
On Inventory, the Tracking status filter shows SKUs that aren’t tracked. Choose Tracking status is not Tracked for all of them, or pick a single reason. Each row’s Status column says why that SKU isn’t tracked. If you search for something and none of the matches are tracked, the list says how many SKUs that aren’t tracked match, with a button to show them. So a product that seems to be missing can always be found.A SKU’s own page
Click a SKU that isn’t tracked to open its page. It says why the SKU isn’t tracked and, for a rule, names the exact condition it matches, such as “Variant title starts with Pre-order”. It also offers the one thing that changes it:
The page shows no stock or forecast, since Stockful isn’t following this SKU.
Exclusion rules
Exclusion rules stop whole groups of products or SKUs being tracked: drafts, a vendor you have stopped selling, samples with an SKU prefix, or anything with no cost. A new store starts with one rule that excludes draft and archived products. Build rules from product, variant and cost conditions, matching all or any of them. See Product filters for the fields you can use. Changes apply within a minute of saving.Checking a change before you save it
Saving your rules opens Review changes first, showing what the save will do:- Tracked SKUs before and after
- Stock value before and after
- Every SKU that starts tracking or stops tracking, 20 at a time
- A warning when the save takes you over your plan’s SKU limit, since extra SKUs add an overage charge
History and restoring a change
History lists every change to what’s tracked, with who made it and how the tracked SKU count moved. The sidebar shows who last changed it and when. Click a change to see exactly what it did:- For a rule change, which conditions were added and removed. Restore puts your rules back as they were before that change, after you confirm. A restore is saved as a change of its own, so it can be undone too.
- For a SKU change, what the SKUs were set to and which ones. Follow rules again hands them back to your rules.
Setting a single SKU
Any SKU can be set to track or not whatever your rules say:- Always track - tracked even when a rule excludes it. It counts towards your plan’s SKU limit.
- Never track - not tracked, and not counted towards your plan, with no rule needed. Add an Until date to stop tracking it for a while. It is tracked again the night after that date.
- From its page - a SKU that isn’t tracked offers Track this SKU. A tracked SKU has Stop tracking this SKU under More actions, and one set to always track shows an Always tracked badge.
- In bulk - tick SKUs on Inventory and choose Track or Stop tracking. The confirmation shows how the tracked SKU count and stock value change.
