How suggestions are worked out
For every SKU at every location, Stockful takes the daily sales rate (skipping days it was out of stock) and works out how many days of stock that location is holding.- A location has a surplus of a SKU when it holds more than its days of cover. The default is 30 days. You can set a different number for each location from Location settings on the Locations page (for one location or for a selection), or from Edit details on the location’s page. A warehouse can keep 45 days while the stores run on 21.
- A location has a shortfall when it holds less than its days of cover, after counting stock already on its way there.
- Where one location has a surplus and another a shortfall of the same SKU, the suggested quantity is the smaller of the two, so the origin never drops below its own days of cover and the destination never goes above its own.
- The low stock threshold from Settings → Forecasting (and any per-SKU override) acts as a floor on both sides, so a location is never emptied below it.
- A hub location’s demand is measured as the whole business’s sales, so it holds its days of cover for everyone it supplies before anything counts as surplus, and hub-to-store rows sort first.

Creating a transfer
Click Create transfer on a row, adjust the quantity if needed (it defaults to the suggested amount), add an optional note, and confirm. Stockful creates the transfer in Shopify as a draft (taggedstockful) and moves the row to the In progress tab.
Stockful never moves stock on its own. A created transfer is a draft - nothing leaves the origin until you mark it ready to ship and ship it in Shopify, exactly as you would for a transfer created by hand.
