The setup wizard walks you through a few quick steps before tracking begins:- Sync store data - Stockful pulls your locations and product categories from Shopify (takes a few seconds)
- Choose locations - select which locations you want to track
- Set thresholds - configure your low stock and overstock thresholds, exclusion rules, and valuation mode
- Forecasting - set your lead time, safety stock buffer, and restock strategy so forecasts match your supply chain
- Storefront data (optional) - expose stock status, urgency, and availability on your storefront via Shopify metafields. See Storefront Data for details
- Connect Slack (optional) - link your Slack workspace to receive stock alerts in a channel
- Start tracking - click the button and Stockful begins importing your full inventory data
The initial sync
After you click “Start tracking,” Stockful imports your products, variants, and current stock levels. This runs in the background - you’ll see a progress banner at the top of the app.| Store size | Estimated time |
|---|---|
| Under 1,000 variants | Under 1 minute |
| 1,000–10,000 variants | 1–5 minutes |
| 10,000–50,000 variants | 5–15 minutes |
| 50,000+ variants | 15–30 minutes |
Stockful can only track changes from the moment it’s installed. Historical data from before installation isn’t available.
