Notification rules watch your inventory and send Slack alerts when conditions you care about are met. All plans include unlimited rules.
Notifications require a Slack connection. Set this up in Settings under the Notifications section before creating rules.

Rule types

RuleTriggers when…
Out of stockA variant hits zero
Low stockA variant drops below a threshold you set, measured in days of cover or units
OverstockedA variant exceeds a days-of-supply threshold you set
For a low stock rule you choose how the threshold is measured:
  • Days of cover - fires when a variant’s days of supply, based on recent sales velocity, falls below your number. Best for catching stockouts before they happen, even on fast movers.
  • Units - fires when available units fall to or below your number. Best for a fixed floor regardless of how fast something sells.

Creating a rule

  1. Go to Settings, then under the Notifications section click Rules, and click Create rule
  2. Choose a trigger type and set the threshold. For low stock, also choose whether it’s measured in days of cover or units
  3. Choose which SKUs to watch - all SKUs, selected SKUs, or a filter
  4. Pick the Slack channel to send alerts to
  5. Set the delivery frequency - currently only immediate is available; daily digest and weekly summary are coming soon
  6. Save the rule
Rules are evaluated in real time as inventory changes arrive from Shopify. You can pause or edit rules at any time.
Start with a broad rule (all SKUs, generous threshold) and refine once you see which alerts are useful.

Connecting Slack

  1. Go to Settings, then under the Notifications section click Settings
  2. Click Connect Slack and authorize Stockful in the popup
  3. Once connected, you can select a Slack channel when creating rules

Quiet hours

On the same page you can set quiet hours - a time range during which immediate Slack notifications are held back. Notifications that fire during quiet hours will be delivered when the quiet period ends.
