# Automatic restocking

> Stockful raises draft purchase orders on a schedule from your reorder recommendations, then tells you what it raised and what it left alone.

Working through the reorder recommendations every week is the same job every week: pick what's due, group it by supplier, round it to pack sizes, raise a draft per supplier. Automatic restocking does that job on a schedule you set.

It raises **drafts only**. Nothing is sent to a supplier until you open the order and send it, and an order you already have is never changed.

## Turning it on

Go to **Settings → Automatic restocking**.

1. Switch on **Raise draft purchase orders on a schedule**.
2. Under **Schedule**, choose how often it runs and at what time. Runs happen in your store's time zone.
3. Save.

Turning it off stops future runs. Drafts already raised stay where they are.

## What a run does

A run reads the same [reorder recommendations](/user-guide/purchasing/reorder-recommendations) you see on the page, so the drafts it raises match what you would have raised by hand:

* **One draft per supplier.** On a store that reorders per location, one per supplier per destination, so each order goes to the right place.
* **Quantities are rounded** up to pack size and up to any minimum order quantity on the supplier's [price list](/user-guide/purchasing/suppliers).
* **Nothing is ordered twice.** A product already on a draft or open purchase order counts as on its way, so the next run does not raise another order for it.
* **Products with no primary supplier are left out** and counted in the summary, so you know they need one.
* **A foreign-currency supplier is priced at the day's exchange rate.** If no rate is available, that supplier's order is skipped and named in the summary rather than raised at a made-up rate.
* **A run covers up to 250 products.** If more are due, the products with the most to order go first and the rest are picked up by the next run. The summary says when this happens.

Snoozed products are skipped, the same as on the reorder page.

## Finding what it raised

On the **Purchase orders** page, an order the schedule raised carries an **Auto** badge, and the source filter lets you show only those. Open one and the timeline reads **Stockful generated this purchase order from your restock schedule**.

From there it is an ordinary draft: review the lines, change quantities, add or remove products, and [send it](/user-guide/purchasing/purchase-orders/sending) when you are happy.

## Supplier minimums

A supplier with a [minimum order value](/user-guide/purchasing/suppliers) will sometimes have less due than that minimum. Under **Supplier minimums**, choose what a run does with an order that falls short:

* **Raise and flag** (the default). The order is raised as normal and shows a **Below minimum order value** banner, so you can decide whether to add to it or wait.
* **Hold until it clears.** Nothing is raised for that supplier until enough is due to reach the minimum. After two weeks the order is raised anyway, flagged, rather than waiting indefinitely.
* **Top up to the minimum.** The order is filled with that supplier's next most urgent products until it clears the minimum. If it still cannot get there, it is raised and flagged.

## The run summary

Under **Delivery**, switch on **Send a summary after each run** and choose where it goes: [Slack](/user-guide/alerts/channels/slack), [Discord](/user-guide/alerts/channels/discord), a [webhook](/user-guide/alerts/channels/webhook), or email to the addresses you list.

The summary lists every draft the run raised, with the supplier, destination, units, total, and whether it fell short of a minimum, and links to each. It also says what the run did **not** do: suppliers held below their minimum, suppliers skipped for want of an exchange rate, products with no supplier, and whether the run hit its limit.

A run that finds nothing to reorder stays quiet, except the first one after you turn the feature on, which always reports so you can see it working.
