# FAQs

> Common questions about using Stockful

## How long does the initial sync take?

It depends on the size of your catalog. Most stores finish within a few minutes. Larger catalogs (10,000+ products) may take longer. Sync starts automatically as soon as you reach the setup wizard - there's no button to click. You'll see a progress banner at the top of the app while it's running.

## Do all plans include the same features?

Yes. Every plan includes all features - reports, forecasting, notifications, AI assistant, weekly digest, anomaly detection, and health check. The only differences between plans are usage limits: tracked SKUs, locations, and your monthly AI chat message cap.

## What happens if I go over my plan limits?

Overage charges apply for SKUs and locations (\$5 per 500 SKUs, \$5 per location), capped per month so costs stay predictable. See [Plans & Billing](/user-guide/plans-and-billing) for the exact cap on your plan.

## How often is inventory data updated?

Inventory changes sync in real time via Shopify webhooks. Product data (titles, images, etc.) syncs once daily.

## Can I get notifications by email?

Notification rules currently deliver via Slack only. Report schedules can deliver via email or Slack.

## Why don't I see forecast data for a product?

Forecasting requires sales history to calculate velocity. If a variant hasn't sold in the velocity period you've configured (default 30 days), there's no data to forecast from.

## Can I exclude products from tracking?

Yes. Go to **Settings → Tracking** and use the product exclusions filter to exclude products by vendor, product type, or tags.

## Does Stockful move my stock?

No. When you act on a [transfer suggestion](/user-guide/reports/transfer-suggestions), Stockful creates a **draft** [Shopify inventory transfer](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/inventory/inventory-transfers) - nothing leaves the origin until you mark it ready to ship and ship it in Shopify yourself. Stockful never moves, commits, or receives stock on your behalf.

## What is the AI assistant and is it included?

The [AI assistant](/user-guide/ai-assistant) is an in-app chat that answers questions about your inventory, explains Stockful concepts, and can propose changes (notification rules, scheduled reports) that you confirm before they apply. It's available on every paid plan; each plan has its own monthly chat message cap.

## What other AI features come with Stockful?

Alongside the assistant: a [weekly Slack digest](/user-guide/weekly-digest) summarising the week, [daily anomaly detection](/user-guide/anomalies) on your sales velocity, AI-suggested forecast thresholds, and an on-demand [health check](/user-guide/health-check) of your setup. All on every paid plan.

## What data does Stockful send to OpenAI?

AI features send product, inventory, and sales data needed to answer your question or produce the output (digest, anomaly narrative, suggestions). Customer contact details are never sent. See **Settings → AI** for the full data & privacy statement.

## Can I turn AI off?

Yes. Go to **Settings → AI** and toggle **Enable Stockful AI** off. That stops the assistant, digests, anomaly scans, and threshold suggestions. You can also disable individual features (weekly insights, anomaly alerts) without turning the whole thing off.

## What happens if I uninstall Stockful?

Uninstalling removes the app from your store. Your historical data is retained for 48 hours in case you reinstall. After that, all data is permanently deleted. Stockful does not modify any product, pricing, or order data in Shopify. The only write access we use is for inventory items (so the [health check](/user-guide/health-check) can fix missing cost / SKU / barcode in-app) and inventory transfers (used when you act on a transfer suggestion).
