# Slack

> Post alerts to a Slack channel

Choose **Slack** on an alert to post it to a channel.

## Connecting

Slack is connected once for your whole store, not per alert, and the same connection delivers [scheduled reports](/user-guide/reports/channels/slack). Connect it under **Settings → Integrations**, or straight from the alert with **Connect**.

## Picking a channel

Each alert chooses its own channel, so low stock can go to one team and overdue purchase orders to another. Private channels appear in the list once the Stockful bot has been invited to them.

You can set a default channel under [Alert settings](/user-guide/alerts/settings), which pre-fills the field on new alerts. It is only a starting point, and changing it later does not move existing alerts.

## What arrives

Each alert carries the numbers that triggered it and buttons for the obvious next steps: create a purchase order, view the product, open it in Stockful, or snooze that SKU. A [summary](/user-guide/alerts/index) instead lists everything caught over the period with a link to the alert's history.

## When it stops working

If the channel is deleted or archived, the alert is recorded as failing rather than going quiet, and the cooldown stops it retrying on every stock change. Stockful emails you the first time this happens rather than on every attempt.

If the connection itself is revoked, Slack alerts and Slack report schedules are switched off, and their channels are kept so reconnecting and switching them back on restores them.
